Best Way To Seal A Paint Can?

It took a professional painter to show me the most mindless, yet GENIUS, paint tricks I'm sharing today. To exist honest, I never really put whatever extra thought into how I opened/closed a paint can without making a mess because that's the simply way I knew how from watching my dad. That's until Casey saw me do what I did and said: "OMG, that is simply genius!". Immediately I realized this mindless strategy was not common knowledge and nosotros needed to share my dad's complimentary wisdom with YOU.

How to Open up and Shut a Pigment CanHow to Open/Close a Paint Can Mess Free

What exercise you lot need?

A paint tin, manifestly, and a flat head screwdriver… any size. Plus a hammer and a dirty old rag for later.

Just a few simple supplies are all you need

How do I open up the paint can?

Wedge the direct border screwdriver gently nether the edge of the chapeau. Once the screwdriver is in place, gently button down on the screw commuter's handle- this will force the chapeau to release slightly and eliminate its air-tight seal. Move the screwdriver to another part of the hat and repeat this exact procedure. Continue to do this (about 3-4 times effectually the lid) until the lid is disconnected from the paint can and can exist easily lifted off…no mess.

Step one, a straight edge screwdriver

Use the screwdriver to pry the lid off the paint can

Carefully open the lid

Does the screwdriver go paint on it?

The screwdriver should never come in contact with wet paint. If you're working with a pigment can that has been used in the by 24 hours, then be a piffling careful. There may exist a chance that wet paint residue left on the can from prior piece of work could be on the exterior of the tin.

Can that piece of work on both new or used paint cans?

YES! I use this method over and over and again until the tin is empty. This process should not bend, damage or disfigure the lid/can in any way.

How practice I close information technology without the mess?

Simply place the lid on superlative of the tin can. Identify the rag over the lid/can and hammer gently around the lid. This will ensure that the chapeau is SEALED and that no paint from the hat or drips from the can splatter on y'all, your dress, your hammer, your pet, your begetter-in-law or most importantly, your projection area.

Time to close it up- mess free

A rag and a hammer will prevent any mess

Carefully seal the can

Then remove the rag so it doesn't dry on the can

What should I do with the rag?

Remove it from the paint can then that information technology doesn't dry at that place and become stuck to the pinnacle of the can. Personally, I would then name it my official paint tin partner and go on to use that old rag to close time to come cans. Note: Make certain you utilise an old rag, because information technology will get pigment on it…. remember information technology's acting as a shield.

Why is it important to seal the chapeau?

In order to eliminate the paint from drying out and ultimately ruining.

What if I don't accept a hammer?

I find myself in the same situation quite often… I mean who has a hammer around when they're painting?! All y'all really need is a heavy object- and then the handle of the screwdriver, the handle of a Clean paint brush, a random brick from the garage… annihilation heavy will do the flim-flam. Heck, I've even seen my dad stand on the rag/tin combo to close it. Although that trick is highly discouraged and should exist saved for trained professionals.
